Sea Shipping to Lebanon: Requirements for Health Certificates for Specific Commodities
Lebanon’s Veterinary Health and Quarantine Law stipulates that all imported live animals, livestock products and their products, all perishable canned foods and other foods must be accompanied by an official health certificate issued by the country of origin when shipped. Commodities without a certificate are prohibited from entering the port. Lebanon attaches great importance to its own animal husbandry and public food safety and prevents the introduction of foreign diseases. Before purchasing relevant commodities, importers should clearly inform suppliers of the need to provide health certificates that meet the requirements, and the contents of the certificates should be accurate and complete, including information such as the source of animals or products, quarantine status, and health control during production and processing. During the transportation of goods, the health certificate should be properly kept to ensure that it can be presented smoothly during customs clearance to avoid the goods being refused entry.
