Sea Shipping to Djibouti: Filling Specifications for Transshipment Cargo Documents and Marks

The Djibouti Port stipulates that for goods transshipped at this port, all documents and packaging marks should clearly indicate the final destination port, such as “WITH TRANSHIPMENT TO HOOEIDAH”. However, it must be noted that the above content cannot be filled in the destination port column of the bill of lading, but only indicated on the header or other blank spaces of the bill of lading, otherwise the customs will regard it as goods for the port of Djibouti, and the consignee must pay import duties before release. As an important transshipment hub, Djibouti has formulated this regulation to standardize cargo management. When handling transshipment goods to Djibouti, freight forwarders and shippers must carefully check the filling of documents and marks to ensure that the final destination port information is accurate and filled in the correct position. Filling errors may cause the goods to be mistakenly judged as goods for the port of Djibouti, and the consignee will bear unnecessary import duties and customs clearance troubles.
