Sea Shipping from China to Malaysia: ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and SPS Measures
Under the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement, many goods from China enjoy reduced tariffs when shipped to Malaysia, provided a certificate of origin Form E is presented. Malaysia has strict Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures for agricultural products; for example, fruits and vegetables must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from China’s Ministry of Agriculture. The port of Klang is Malaysia’s main hub, and customs clearance here is relatively efficient if all documents, including the bill of lading and Form E, are in order.
