Sweden’s Environmental Regulations and Sustainable Packaging Standards
Sweden implements some of Europe’s strictest environmental regulations for packaging. All imported goods must comply with the Swedish Environmental Code (Miljöbalken), with packaging materials requiring environmental declarations (Miljödeklaration). Plastic packaging must contain at least 30% recycled content and be marked with resin identification codes and recycling instructions in Swedish.
Shipping documentation must include carbon footprint information for shipments over 100kg, calculated according to ISO 14067 standards. Electrical products require Nordic Ecolabel (Svanen) for green market access, with packaging displaying energy efficiency classes in Swedish (“Energiklass A++”). Wooden packaging must be 100% FSC-certified, with clear documentation of chain of custody from forest to final product.
