Egypt’s Import Licensing and Nile Delta Logistics Packaging Requirements
Egypt requires import licenses for most products through the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOIEC). Declarations must be submitted via the “Nafeza” single window system, with Arabic-English bilingual documentation. Products regulated by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization (EOS) must bear the ES mark, including electrical goods and building materials.
Packaging must withstand dusty conditions in desert regions and humidity in the Nile Delta. Sand-resistant seals are required for mechanical parts, with IP54-rated enclosures for electronics. Food packaging must display “مواصفات الغذاء” (Nutritional Specifications) in Arabic and include Halal certification if applicable (“مُحَلَّل”). Wooden packaging needs EOS-approved fumigation certificates with Arabic markings. Heavy machinery uses reinforced steel pallets (minimum 10mm thickness) for handling by Egyptian port cranes with 20-ton capacity limits.
