Chile’s INN Regulation and Andean Climate Packaging Standards

Chile operates under Andean Community regulations with additional national requirements. All imports must comply with INN (Instituto Nacional de Normalización) standards, with the “Chile Calificado” mark required for premium market access. Declarations are submitted through the “SII” (Servicio de Impuestos Internos) portal, with Spanish-language documentation mandatory.

Packaging must adapt to Chile’s diverse climates—from desert north to temperate south. UV-resistant materials are mandatory for northern regions (300+ days of sunshine), tested to ISO 4892-3 standards. Food packaging must display “Información Nutricional” in Spanish and include “Fecha de Vencimiento” in dd/mm/aaaa format. Electrical products require “Marca Chile” safety certification, with voltage clearly marked (220V, 50Hz). Wooden packaging must meet ISPM 15 and bear the Chilean Agricultural Service (SAG) stamp.
