Philippines’ BPS Certification and Tropical Storm Packaging Standards
The Philippines enforces standards through the Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS), requiring the “Philippine Standard” (PS) mark for regulated products. Declarations are submitted via the “Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA)” system, with English documentation accepted. Electronics need PS certification, while food products require FDA registration.
Packaging must withstand tropical storms and high humidity, using water-resistant materials with minimum 40μm polyethylene coating. Corrugated boxes must pass edge crush test (ECT 32+) to resist water damage. Consumer goods display “Expiration Date” in mm/dd/yyyy format with Filipino translation ” petsa ng pagkabulok”. Electrical products show 220V/60Hz markings and BPS certification. Wooden packaging requires ISPM 15 certification with Philippine Department of Agriculture stamp.
