Bangladesh’s BSTI Certification and Monsoon Packaging Standards
Bangladesh requires products to meet Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) standards, with the BSTI mark mandatory for regulated goods. Declarations are submitted through the “Customs Automation System”, with English documentation accepted. Textiles and food products have additional inspection requirements.
Monsoon-resistant packaging is critical, using water-proof materials with heat-sealed seams. Corrugated boxes must pass 24-hour water immersion test without delamination. Food packaging displays “Expiry Date” in dd/mm/yyyy format with Bengali translation “শেষ তারিখ”. Pharmaceuticals use moisture-resistant packaging (RH < 60% for 30 days). Wooden packaging needs BSTI-approved ISPM 15 certification with Bangladeshi Agricultural Ministry stamp.
