Ireland’s EU Compliance and Island Logistics Packaging Standards

Ireland enforces EU regulations with additional island logistics considerations. Declarations are submitted through the “Revenue Commissioners” customs system, using EU HS codes. Food products require FSAI (Food Safety Authority of Ireland) approval, with traceability documentation mandatory.

Packaging for island transport must maximize container efficiency due to limited shipping frequencies. Standardized 1200x1000mm pallets are mandatory for warehouse automation. Sustainable packaging must meet “Repak” recycling standards, with plastic containing 30% recycled content. Consumer goods display “Use By” or “Best Before” dates in dd/mm/yyyy format. Pharmaceuticals use tamper-evident packaging with HPRA (Health Products Regulatory Authority) approval marks.
