Operation Guide and Precautions for Importing Health Products into Mexico

Registration and Certification: Health products must be registered with the General Directorate for Prevention of Health Risks in Mexico (COFEPRIS). Detailed information about the product must be submitted during registration, including ingredients, efficacy, production process, quality control documents, safety and effectiveness data, etc. Enterprises must provide relevant production qualification certificates such as GMP certificates.

Label requirements: The label must be in Spanish and include the product name, ingredient list, efficacy description, method of consumption, shelf life, storage conditions, manufacturer and importer information, etc. The label should comply with Mexican regulations and must not contain false or misleading content. Products containing allergens must be clearly marked.

Import Process

Importer Registration: Importers must register with relevant Mexican departments to obtain importer qualifications.

Submit import documents: Before the goods arrive in Mexico, the importer prepares commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading or airway bills, product registration certificates, certificates of origin and other documents, and submits import declarations to Mexican customs.

Customs inspection: Mexican customs inspects the goods to check whether the goods are consistent with the declared information and whether the products comply with Mexican regulations and standards. Inspection contents include product quality, label compliance, etc.
Pay taxes and fees: Pay tariffs, VAT and other taxes and fees according to the value and category of the goods.
Release and pick up: After completing the inspection and paying taxes and fees, the goods can be released, and the importer arranges to pick up the goods and transport them to the destination.
Notes
Be familiar with regulations and standards: Mexico has strict regulations and standards for health products. Importers need to have a deep understanding of the relevant requirements to ensure that imported products comply with the regulations.
Choose a suitable agent: If there is no professional team in Mexico, you can consider hiring a local experienced customs clearance agent and sales agent to assist in handling import and marketing matters.
Focus on product quality traceability: Establish a complete product quality traceability system so that quality problems can be handled quickly and accurately.
