Australia’s Biosecurity Regulations and UV-Resistant Packaging Standards
Australia’s Department of Agriculture implements strict biosecurity controls. All wooden packaging must be certified by AQIS (Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources), providing heat treatment certificates (HT) or methyl bromide fumigation certificates that include treatment date, location, and operator information. Under the Imported Food Control Act, food packaging must display English ingredient lists and shelf life, and must not use vinyl chloride materials.
Packaging must adapt to Australia’s strong UV environment. Outdoor product packaging must contain UV stabilizers, meeting AS 4798 standards (UV aging resistance testing). Liquid product packaging must pass leakage tests (24-hour inversion without leakage), with outer boxes marked with safety labels such as “Flammable” or “Corrosive” (using AS 1319 graphic symbols). Electronic equipment packaging must display the C-Tick certification mark, and battery products must be individually packaged with capacity information indicated.
