France’s EU Compliance Regulations and Luxury Packaging Standards

France adheres strictly to EU transportation directives while maintaining additional national requirements. All imported goods must be declared through the French Customs “Douane.fr” platform, with mandatory electronic invoicing (Facture Électronique) for transactions exceeding €1,500. Luxury goods require special customs documentation, including proof of authenticity and material origin certificates (e.g., diamond grading reports for jewelry).

Packaging for luxury products must meet high aesthetic and environmental standards, using FSC-certified paper and vegetable-based inks. Cosmetics packaging must comply with EU Regulation 1223/2009, displaying full ingredient lists in French and including batch numbers with minimum 3-year shelf life indicators. 易碎品 (Fragile items) require “Emballage Fragile” markings with shock-indicating labels that turn red if excessive impact occurs during transport. Wooden packaging must bear the CE mark and ISPM 15 certification, with all documentation available in both French and English.
