Germany’s Shipping Regulations and Industrial Product Packaging Standards
As a core member of the European Union, Germany’s shipping regulations strictly follow EU standards. All imported goods must submit electronic declarations in advance through the EU’s I customs system, including detailed product descriptions, HS codes (accurate to 8 digits), and origin information. The declared value must be completely consistent with the commercial invoice, with an allowable error margin of no more than 5%. For mechanical products, German-language CE certification certificates and EU Declaration of Conformity must be attached. Missing relevant documents will result in cargo detention, with daily storage fines up to 0.5% of the cargo value.
In terms of packaging requirements, Germany implements environmental packaging regulations, prohibiting non-degradable cushioning materials and prioritizing recycled pulp and compostable plastics. Wooden packaging must comply with ISPM 15 standards and prominently display the fumigation certificate number and treatment method (e.g., HT for heat treatment). Electronic product packaging must bear the recycling mark (Der Grüne Punkt) and indicate material composition ratios (e.g., “80% recycled plastic”). Outer boxes require bilingual (German-English) warning labels with a font height of no less than 12mm.
