Russia’s GOST Certification and Cold-Resistant Packaging Standards
Russia implements a GOST certification system for imported goods. Products without GOST certification cannot be sold in Russia, with packaging must displaying GOST marks and certification numbers. Under the Customs Code, all declaration documents must provide Russian translations, and commercial invoices must indicate “Сведения о происхождении товара” (origin information).
Russia has cold winters, so packaging must meet cold resistance requirements, passing low-temperature tests according to GOST 15150 standards (-30°C for 24 hours without embrittlement). Liquid product packaging must use low-temperature resistant materials (such as high-density polyethylene) to avoid low-temperature cracking, with outer boxes marked “Хранение при температуре выше -20℃” (storage temperature above -20°C). Battery products must be individually packaged to prevent low-temperature short circuits, and precision instruments require insulated packaging with built-in temperature recorders (to record temperature changes during transportation).
