Sea Shipping from China to Ethiopia: Import Licenses and Document Authentication
Ethiopia requires an import license for most goods shipped from China. The license must be obtained from the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade before the goods are dispatched. All commercial documents, including invoices and packing lists, need to be authenticated by the Ethiopian Embassy or Consulate in China. For goods valued above $2,000, a pre-shipment inspection is mandatory, and the report must be included in the customs clearance documents. Ethiopian Customs may also conduct physical inspections of goods to verify their quantity and quality against the declared information.
