Sea Shipping from China to Ghana: ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme and Inspection
Goods shipped from China to Ghana can benefit from the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) if they meet the rules of origin criteria, allowing for reduced or zero tariffs. However, a certificate of origin issued by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is required. Ghana mandates that all used goods, especially clothing and electronics, undergo inspection by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) through its appointed agents in China. The inspection certificate is essential for customs clearance to prevent the import of substandard items.
