Sea Shipping to Nigeria: Special Processes for Cargo Inspection and Customs Clearance

To prevent illegal merchants from exchanging foreign exchange, the Central Administration of Nigeria stipulates that all imported goods must be inspected by the branch agency of SGS before being shipped, and a “CLEAN REPORT OF FINDINGS” must be obtained, otherwise the consignee cannot clear customs and take delivery of the goods. Before shipping the goods, the shipper should contact the branch agency of SGS in advance to arrange cargo inspection. Ensure that the quality, quantity, packaging of the goods meet Nigeria’s import standards, actively cooperate with the inspection work, and provide the required documents and materials. After passing the inspection, promptly obtain the “CLEAN REPORT OF FINDINGS” and submit it to the consignee along with the cargo transportation documents. The consignee handles the delivery procedures with this report when clearing customs. Without this report, the goods cannot be cleared smoothly.
