Sea Shipping to Pakistan: Restrictions on Goods Packed in Paper Bags and Ship Berthing

The Karachi Port Authority of Pakistan stipulates that imported goods such as carbon powder, graphite powder, magnesium dioxide and other dyes packed in paper bags must be palletized or properly packed in boxes, otherwise unloading will not be allowed. This is because paper bag packaging is easy to break during loading and unloading, leading to goods leakage, polluting the port environment and affecting loading and unloading efficiency. In addition, Pakistan does not accept ships flying the flags of India, South Africa, Israel, South Korea and Taiwan to berth, which is based on its foreign policy and regional relations. Shipping companies must pay attention to this restriction when planning routes and scheduling ships to avoid being unable to berth due to the ship’s flag, resulting in delays and economic losses. Shippers also need to confirm the transport ship information in advance to ensure smooth transportation of goods.
