Sea Shipping to Tanzania: Special Regulations on Cargo Packaging Marks
The Tanzania Port Authority stipulates that all goods shipped to the Port of Dar es Salaam for delivery to Tanzania or transshipped to Zambia, Zaire, Rwanda, Burundi and other countries must have cross marks of different colors painted in prominent positions on the packaging for classification, otherwise the shipowner will charge a cargo classification fee. The Tanzania port has a large cargo throughput and numerous transshipment operations. The color cross marks can improve the efficiency of cargo sorting and transshipment. When packaging goods, the shipper should paint the marks in accordance with the regulations, choose eye – catching colors and appropriate sizes to ensure that the marks are clearly distinguishable. Ignoring this regulation may not only face additional fees but also cause goods to be backlogged at the port, delaying delivery time.
